CHANGES TO RECYCLING EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1st
"This is an IMPORTANT notice about permanent changes to the Borough of Roselle Park's recycling schedule. Be advised that as of September 1, 2020 certain changes to the Borough of Roselle Park's recycling collection schedule will go into effect. These changes are as follows:

1. Collection will be strictly dual stream.
This means that residents must separate co-mingled paper products from co-mingled bottles, cans, and plastics.

2. Borough-Wide (East and West Side) collection will take place every Tuesday alternating between recycled materials.
The new schedule will begin on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 with a pickup of co-mingled bottles, cans, and plastics only, then continue on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 with a pickup of co-mingled paper products only, and then will continue onward each Tuesday on an alternating basis.

3. All plastic bags are prohibited!
Plastic bags may not be used as a receptacle, nor may they be disposed of as part of curbside collection. Recycled materials mixed with plastics bags will not be collected.

For more information about the new schedule, acceptable recycling materials, and suitable disposal containers, please visit: http://rosellepark.net/recycle-calendar-pdf-version/."

Am I on the East or West Side of Town?

Chestnut Street is the dividing line of Roselle Park.. The East Side is everything east of Chestnut Street heading towards Elizabeth.  The West Side is the everything west of Chestnut Street heading towards Cranford.  Many times there are fun east, west, rivalries and every year the is a community basketball game as to who will have bragging rights as the best side for that year.

NEW SIDEWALKS: Can the town pay for mine?
Question
"I've see a lot of road work being done by the utility company.  Can you let me know if my street is scheduled for any curb/sidewalk upgrades similar to our surrounding blocks like on Bender and Sheridan around East Grant? My curb and sidewalk are in dire need of repair, and I am willing to fix them myself, however I will hold off if I know town repairs are planned.

Or, if I were to have it fixed myself and then within a reasonable time frame the upgrades occurred, would it be possible to request a credit from the borough?"

ANSWER
The borough doesn't normally pay for the replacement of sidewalks unless those sidewalks are being lifted by a borough planted tree. If you have a tree lifting up sidewalks, you can fill out the form here.

The only other time that a sidewalk could be replaced is if there is a utility project or roadwork on that street. Also, sometimes when there is road work scheduled but sidewalks are not part of the project, residents can get the benefit of their bid unit prices, normally lower than if you looked for a different contractor.

The Borough has not had a sidewalk credit program.  Unfortunately, that option is not available at this time.

If you forward to me your street address. I will follow up and find out if it is part of any future utility work.
